CAPE CORAL, Fla.- A Cape Coral man finds a dog after it's shot with an arrow. The man calls Lee County Animal Services to get it help. So who would do such a thing? And where is the dog now?
A 2-year-old nicknamed Boone is running circles today, but 2 days ago he didn't have all of this energy.
"Initially when he came in, his injuries were an open hold. It's healing pretty well now," said Ria Brown, Lee County Animal Services.
Pictures were taken of the dog's injuries after it was rushed to an emergency animal clinic.
A man found the dog with an arrow piercing its chest at the intersection of Stringfellow Road and Pine Island Road. Animal Services is now caring for Boone.
"He's very friendly, good weight, shiny coat. You can tell he was owned by someone, appears to be housebroken."
Animal Services is now asking for your help to figure out who would do such a thing and where does Boone belong.
"If anybody has any information about what happened to him or his owner, please contact us," said Brown.
Boone is an American Staffordshire Terrier. He had no microchip or collar on him when the shelter got him. Brown tell me it's a problem the shelter sees everyday. Last year, the shelter took in 10,000 animals and only 800 animals were ever reclaimed by their owners.
Animal Services says Boone's injuries should be better in the next week and in the meantime Boone waits patiently for a new home.
Boone will be adopted if his owner does not claim him.
