Fire destroys two Upper Captiva waterfront homes
UPPER CAPTIVA, Fla. - A fire in Upper Captiva Sunday morning completely destroyed two waterfront homes on Kingfisher Drive before spreading to a third.
According to the Upper Captiva Fire and Rescue, it took firefighters nearly six hours to get the fires completely out.
Wind did not help the situation. Firefighters on scene say at least a dozen spot fires because of winds gusting upwards of 20 knots.
The homeowner and his wife were home when the fire started but they did get out.
Four firefighters were treated for smoke inhilation. The state fire marshall is investigating.
