Dozens of Lee Co. couples tie the knot on Valentine's Day
LEE CO., Fla. - It was a busy day at the Lee County Clerk of Courts recording office, where dozens of couples tied the knot on this special day.
Four In Your Corner's Colleen Hogan is talking with the first few couples in line.
Arm in arm, Albert and Janice Reed are all smiles as they walk in the clerk's office to make it official.
"I love this man. He's my best friend," just-married Ft. Myers resident Janice Reed said.
Maybe not right away.
"I tried to set him up with my girlfriend," she laughed. "That's how we got together."
"She kept trying to pass me off to her girlfriend and I kept being persistent," Albert Reed laughed.
"He was extremely persistent," she said.
Fast forward six years and the Ft. Myers couple is finally getting hitched.
"I'm getting married for the first time," she said, with tears in her eyes. "And it's wonderful."
They knew they wanted Valentine's Day to be their anniversary. They also knew they wanted it to be just the two of them.
"Nobody knows," she joked. "Nobody knows!"
Deputy Clerk Cindy Keller with the recording office says they're expecting a couple dozen couples to come in today. The wonderful recording office staff really enjoys what they do and they like to get into the spirit, pulling together for gift bags for the first 25 couples.
"Be willing to give in the relationship," Keller said, asked what advice she'd give newly-married couples. "Chose the right person to begin with."
Albert and Janice Reed have no doubt they've done just that, as they seal the deal with a kiss and a laugh.
