"It's a little shocking I know you can become very ill from that so it's concerning." Cathy said.
They, like many others want to know how it happened. We called Gold Coast Salads Wednesday and got a recording saying if you've bought the recalled product, to take it back. We then went to their office in Naples. The owner told FOX4 he didn't want to comment on camera at this time.
We also checked in with a doctor to find out how being exposed to Listeria would specifically affect your health. She said you'll feel symptoms right away..
She said other symptoms, though rare, can be very serious."Meningitis, brain damage and in extreme cases, death." Dr. Kathleen Taylor said.
Like so many Southwest Floridians, Ralph and Cathy are pulling for this local business to succeed. but worry a health scare like this could have a lasting effect "If one has contamination and it comes from the same place you wonder if the other has the same thing." Cathy Galietti said.
