Rubio to deliver Republican Address to the nation
WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) announced today that they have selected U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) to deliver the Republican Address to the Nation following the President’s State of the Union address on February 12, 2013. Sen. Rubio, now in his third year in the U.S. Senate, has been a champion of growing the American middle class through limited government and free enterprise policies, making him a natural choice to outline why the Republican vision can help Americans rise above their current circumstances in the Obama economy.
The address will be delivered in both English and Spanish.
“I’m honored to have this opportunity to discuss how limited government and free enterprise have helped make my family’s dreams come true in America,” said Senator Rubio.“Limited government and free enterprise are the very foundation of what makes America special and separates us from the world, particularly through our strong middle class. I look forward to laying out the Republican case of how our ideas can help people close the gap between their dreams and the opportunities to realize them.”
In his U.S. Senate campaign in 2010, Marco Rubio prevailed on a pledge to stand up to Washington’s reckless spending and its assault on the free enterprise system. Today, Rubio proudly represents Florida in the U.S. Senate where he’s working to fulfill his promise to restore fiscal discipline and give job creators more certainty and confidence to open new businesses or expand existing ones.
