Crime rate drops in Cape Coral

CAPE CORAL, Fla. - The Cape Coral Police Department points to a big decrease in robberies in its release of their 2012 crime statistics.

Cape Coral remains one of the safest cities in Florida with decreases in crime such as burglary, larceny and highlighted by a 26% reduction in robbery.

The city's murder rate stayed steady at three from year to year, although the city did record a 4th homicide when a victim died from injuries inflicted in 2002.
