Baltimore wins Super Bowl XLVII
NEW ORLEANS – The Baltimore Ravens held off an amazing comeback by the San Francisco 49’ers 34 to 31 to win Super Bowl XLVII.
The game appeared to be all but over when Jacoby Jones returned the opening second half kickoff a record 108 yards for a touchdown putting Baltimore up by 22 points.
Then the lights went out, not just for Baltimore but also for about half of the Super Dome. It took more than 30 minutes to get power restored and the agonizing wait seemed to deflate the Ravens.
49er’s quarterback Colin Kampernick worked his magic scoring throwing a touchdown pass and scampering 15 yards for another to put his team back in the game.
But the Ravens defense held firm on a dramatic fourth and goal from the 6 yard line with 1:50 on the clock to stop San Francisco’s final drive of the game.
