Worker accuses fast food chain of pulling 'fast one' on him
Manager says McDonald's hasn't given him final paycheck
LEE COUNTY - A Lee County man says after working at a fast food franchise for 11 years....the restaurant owner pulled a fast one on him. He says after quitting his job, he never received his final paycheck....so he wanted to know why. Four in your Corner's Mike Mason getting him help tonight.
A McDonald's manager says he and his boss didn't see eye to eye so he quit but he's still waiting for his paycheck and that's why he turned to us for help.
3 month old Phoenix is Chris Hedley's second son. Raising a newborn baby these days isn't exactly cheap.
Chris Hedley: "Diapers, formula, baby food. We don't receive any assistance so…"
So...as Chris's family gets bigger his paycheck has been getting smaller. Chris says while working as a manager at this McDonalds near Buckingham he only made $9.50 an hour....and was forced to take a second job. But he says when he told his General Manager he needed to rearrange his schedule to accommodate that new job, his boss said no.
Chris Hedley: "I said, ‘well I have to go where the money is where I have a better chance of making a living."
Mike Mason: "So you quit."
Chris Hedley: "Yep, I quit."
On Friday Chris expected to pick up his last paycheck....but it wasn't there.
We went to McDonalds to get some answers but were told the General Manager was out. So we called him.
Mike Mason: "My name is Mike Mason, I'm a reporter with Fox 4 News."
The GM told us the check had been mailed out on Friday.
Mike Mason: "It's going to show a postmark of Friday when he does receive the check?"
Since Chris hasn't received his check yet -- we asked the GM if he could issue a stop payment and give Chris another check tomorrow.
Mike Mason: "They said they can get it to you by tomorrow, put a stop payment on it. That would be excellent that way we can do a follow up on it tomorrow."
That's good news for Chris....his $700 paycheck may not seem like much but for his family it'll make a world of difference.
Chris Hedley: "If there's anything you guys can do to get me my paycheck I would be indebted to you unbelievably."
The General Manager didn't want to go on camera for an interview, he did say he'll get Chris his check by Thursday. We'll let you know how it turns out.
