Homeowner wants money back from old apartment complex
NAPLES, Fla.- A Naples man says he's still waiting for his old apartment complex to give him back money he says he is owed.
Hervin Oliver just bought a home with his wife in 2011.
Before he bought a home, he lived in a apartment complex just off of Radio Road in Naples.
"We lived at the apartment complex from 2005 to 2011."
But after moving out more than a year ago, he says he's still waiting for a percentage of his rent back and he points to this agreement.
"This contract says give 5% when you move out."
The paperwork he shows Fox is titled "Home Ownership Incentive." It says anyone who lives in the complex for a minimum of 2 years will receive 5% of their total net rent back at move out, but the tenant needs to move from an apartment into a home, Hervin says he did just that.
"We had this agreement with them. We stayed there for more than 2 years and we were told at move out if we bought a house they give us back money. That's why we stayed there for so long."
But Hervin says he never received any money back and he's been unsuccessful when he's tried to call.
"Keep calling and calling."
So that's when Fox 4 stepped in and went to the complex and was told the property manager contacted corporate. Fox received a call back and was told the complex was recently taken over by new management so they are trying to locate his filed, but are willing to work with him if he has the proper paperwork.
Hervin is meeting with the complex on Thursday at 10am.
