LAKELAND, Fla. - Florida's 2nd District Court of Appeals rejected a request for a new trial from a former Gulf Coast High School band teacher in prison for sexual battery.

55-year-old Robert Hamberg is serving a 30-year prison sentence following his 2011 conviction on charges that he had sex with a 15-year-old student.

Hamberg's attorney appealed saying that jurors should have never heard testimony about how his client met his wife when he was a band teacher in Georgia and she was a high school student.
