Thieves target the wrong Naples home
NAPLES, Fla. - A trio of burglary suspects picked the wrong house in Naples on Tuesday. Naples police say 36-year-old Felix Lazaro Rivera of Hialeah knocked on the door of a house in the 300 block of Mooringline Drive looking for "David."
The door was answered by a recent graduate of the City of Naples Police Citizens Academy who noted the tag of the vehicle the man left in which was covered by a black object.
Officers found that vehicle parked in a driveway in the 2000 block of Crayton Road. They watched as a man walked to the rear of the residence.
Officers spotted 20-year-old Angel Lazo of Hialeah and 48-year-old Luis Rodriguez of Opa-Locka inside the vehicle.
Officers checked the vehicle and went looking for Rivera. They found him hiding in the rear corner of the residence near a rear door of the residence. Inside the vehicle they saw bolt cutters and screwdrivers readily available inside the vehicle.
Officers also saw gloves on the roof of the residence; near the area Rivera was located and that he had been talking with one of the other suspects on a cell phone during the attempted burglary.
Rivera was charged with attempted burglary, possession of burglary tools, carrying a concealed weapon, and unlawful use of a two-way communication device.
Lazo was charged with attempted burglary, and unlawful use of a two-way communication device.
Rodriguez was charged with loitering and prowling.
