Pedestrian killed on Fort Myers Beach

FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. - An Ohio woman was killed last night while trying to cross Estero Boulevard just north of Bay Beach Lane on Fort Myers Beach.

76-year-old Ann Bandy of Mentor, Ohio was walking with her 82-year-old husband Robert in the pedestrian crosswalk at about 6:30 p.m.

Deputies say a Dodge Grand Caravan driven by 74-year-old Jimmie Imel of Fort Wayne, Indiana was traveling north on Estero when he hit the couple.  Ann Bandy died from her injuries this morning, her husband remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Imel was cited for failing to yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk.
