Pedestrian killed south of Arcadia
ARCADIA, Fla. - A man walking south on U.S. 17 near SW Fletcher Street was struck and killed by a Ford Expedition just after 5 a.m.
The Florida Highway Patrol says 38-year-old Jesus Hernandez of Arcadia was hit when the SUV driven by 16-year-old Juliana Erien Delmonte of Arcadia veered off the roadway onto the grass shoulder of U.S 17 striking Hernandez.
The impact sent Hernandez onto the paved shoulder of the highway. Delmonte was charged with failure to drive within a designated lane.
