Land owner discovers dead panther east of Immokalee
IMMOKALEE, Fla. - A bad smell led a Collier County landowner to the carcass of a dead panther just east of Immokalee over the weekend.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says the male panther was apparently killed by another male. The FWC found puncture wounds in the skull.
The remains of the 2-to-4-year-old uncollared male were recovered on Saturday south of Immokalee Road.
The carcass will go to the FWC research lab in Gainesville for a necropsy. This marks the third panther death in Florida this year.
