Elderly man killed in Charlotte County motorcycle crash
PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly motorcycle crash that killed an 82-year-old man from Oakdale, Pennsylvania Saturday afternoon.
The FHP says Elmer Morra was riding his Kawasaki east on Veterans Boulevard when a car driven by 19-year-old Reigan Berndt of Punta Gorda pulled out from a stop sign on Norman Street into the path of Morra's oncoming motorcycle.
The FHP says Morra attempted to take evasive action by hitting the brakes and laying the bike on its left side. The motorcycle hit the front of Berndt's car sending Morra off his bike. Morra was pronounced dead at Peace River Hospital.
There is no word of any charges in this crash.
