Punta Gorda woman arrested in stabbing
PUNTA GORDA, Fla. - Charlotte County detectives arrested a 27-year-old Punta Gorda woman in connection with the stabbing of another woman in the area of Pelican Drive and Grove Boulevard in the Charlotte Ranchettes east of Punta Gorda.
Angela Denise Sutton is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
CCSO was dispatched to Charlotte Regional Medical Center at 5:19 p.m. concerning a woman who had been stabbed. The victim said she was hanging out with friends where she and Sutton got into an argument.
She said Sutton approached and pushed her, and she pushed back. The victim said Sutton then said she was going to “Gut her like a fish.” The victim said she put her hands up saying she was not worth fighting over, then Sutton pulled out a Smith & Wesson type pocket knife and stabbed her in the abdomen.
The victim said she was able to get away and was taken to the hospital; she was later released.
A deputy located Sutton and took her in for questioning. Sutton told the deputy the victim hit her in the mouth with a closed fist before using the knife. Sutton was arrested and taken to the Charlotte County Jail where she is being held on no bail.
