1 caught, 1 at large, in Charlotte County manhunt
PUNTA GORDA, Fla. - One of two suspects wanted in connection with an incident where a Charlotte County deputy was struck by a pickup truck turned himself in Tuesday afternoon.
33-year-old Jeffrey Dean May of Punta Gorda was a passenger in a fleeing pickup that hit a deputy on January 16th. The deputy was treated and released.
May is charged with felony aggravated batteron on a law enforcement officer.
Detectives are still looking for the driver of the pickup, 22-year-old Hunter Bruce Morrison of Punta Gorda. He was behind the wheel of the truck last Wednesday night when he sped away from deputies who were trying to serve a warrant at his home. A tip led investigators to the pickup the following night in a ditch in Charlotte Ranchettes.
