CHARLOTTE HARBOR, Fla. - Charlotte County detectives arrested a homeless Port Charlotte man Monday for the attempted robbery of a woman parked in her car.  It happened at a Circle K in Charlotte Harbor.

55-year-old James Wayne Ellingsworth was taken into custody and it was discovered he has arrest warrants out for him in Tennessee and Indiana.

CCSO received a call from a woman who was in her car when Ellingsworth approached and asked her for a lighter; she rolled the window down a few inches and handed to him.

She told detectives Ellingsworth then reached into her vehicle, unlocked her door, opened it and said, “Give me all of your money, I want all of your money.”

The woman then said she was terrified, started her vehicle and put it in reverse into an open parking area of the station. Ellingsworth approached her again, knocking on her window; he then walked over and sat on a brick wall in front of the business.

Detectives say Ellingsworth was very intoxicated when they took him into custody.  He was taken to the Charlotte County Jail where he's being held on no bond.e
