FORT MYERS, Fla. - A Fort Myers police officer out on patrol went above and beyond the call of duty to save a slow moving four-legged friend.

The rescue was all caught on Officer Glenn Eppler's dash cam video as he patrolled along The Forum, a road that runs north and south just east of I-75.  As Eppler cruised along he encountered an unusual traffic hazard; a tortoise crossing the road.

Without hesitation Eppler turned on his emergency lights, stopped his car, and sprung into action.  He got out of his car and helped the turtle make it across the busy road to safety.

Oddly enough, this is the same officer who performed a very similar feat back in 2011 and that video went viral on YouTube.  Eppler found himself driving along and came upon a flock of ducklings trying to scurry to safety.  Again, Eppler got up and did an impromptu duck round-up to save the day.
