Going bald doesn't stop Charlotte detectives from getting their men
PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Charlotte County detectives arrested two men involved with a burglary of a Port Charlotte home Wednesday morning, despite their best efforts to disguise themselves.
25-year-old Corey Lee Soares of Port Charlotte and 23-year-old Keith Leo Woods of Punta Gorda are both charged with burglary and grand theft.
Witnesses who saw them commit the crime say both men shaved their heads to disguise themselves.
The victim called CCSO before 10 a.m. saying she saw a man in her backyard. She and her passenger went to the rear of the home and the man fled. The victim said her laptop computer was missing and her television was moved to a doorway to also be taken.
She said she met two men at Alli-Gators in Town Center Mall and invited them and many others to party at her home after the bar closed. One of the men, later identified as Soares asked to use the victim’s laptop to check his Facebook messages; he gave it back and the two men left. About 8:50 a.m. the victim received a phone call from Soares. She told him she had to go out and about when she would be back.
A canvass of the neighborhood led to a vehicle description and the two men along with a license tag number which led authorities to Soares.
A search warrant signed by a judge was obtained and served and detectives found Soares and Woods with their heads shaved. Both men were arrested.
