Car recovered underway in Punta Gorda
UPDATE
PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- Divers in Punta Gorda have found a car in a canal believed tied to a woman who went missing almost 20 years ago.
The car was removed after nearly two hours of working to recover it from a canal.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office is assisting the Punta Gorda police department with recovery of the vehicle discovered in a canal using new technology to locate it.
64-year-old Frances Hendrickson was last seen in June of 1993 by a neighbor driving her 1987 light blue Buick station wagon.
The use of a new sonar helped local the vehicle in a canal behind the intersection of Whippoorwill Boulevard and Eider Street, just blocks from the missing woman's home.
