Sweetbay Supermarkets closing 4 Southwest Florida locations
TAMPA, Fla. - Sweetbay Supermarkets announced it is closing 33 stores statewide including four of its grocery stores in Southwest Florida. Also among the closings a pharmacy at its Bonita Springs store will close.
The supermarkets closing in Southwest Florida include three locations in Collier County and one in Charlotte County. The list of stores are as follows: 2482 Immokalee Road, Naples, 5926 Premier Way, Naples, 4015 Santa Barbara Blvd. Naples and 10175 Tamiami Trail, Punta Gorda.
Sweetbay says the stores were under-performing and that they will close by mid-February. The move will leave the company with 72 stores in Florida. The closures will mean 2,000 people will lose their jobs.
Sweetbay began operating in Southwest Florida in 2004.
