NAPLES, Fla. - Collier County deputies arrested a 46-year-old Naples man Tuesday night for attempting to kidnap a girl from the parking lot of the Dollar Tree store at 9885 Collier Boulevard.
According to investigators the girl was with her father and stopped at the Dollar Tree while he went into a nearby WalMart. The suspect, Orlinde Ricardo Romero, attempted to pull the girl into his van.
According to the victim the two struggled and Romero let her go when another car pulled up next to his van. At that point she ran to some older people and used their cell phone to call her father.
Romero ran off into some nearby Woods behind the plaza. The victim's father went searching for Romero, found him and a confrontation ensued.
Romero fled but he was eventually found again in the parking lot of the WalMart where he was taken into custody and charged with attempted kidnapping.
