2 motorcycles crash killing 1, closing Colonial for a time in Fort Myers
UPDATE
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Fort Myers police identified the victims in an early morning crash involving two motorcycles at Colonial and 6 Mile Cypress killed one rider and critically injured another.
34-year-old Eric Daniel Pimentel Santiago of Lehigh Acres was killed when his motorcycle collided with another motorcycle. The rider on the other bike, 23-year-old Luis Manuel Bermudez of Lehigh Acres was critically injured and taken to Lee Memorial Hospital.
Neither biker was wearing a helmet, neither were licensed to drive a motorcycle and alcohol may have played a role in the crash.
Investigators say the two were traveling at a high rate of speed of more than 100 mph eastbound on Colonial when they crashed at 1:55 a.m. The crash closed eastbound Colonial Boulevard between Winkler and 6 Mile Cypress for the beginning of the morning rush hour but police opened the road way around 7:30 a.m.
