Lee County elementary schools get deputies
FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Lee County School District and Lee County Sheriff agreed to assign deputies to elementary schools on a rotating basis.
Sheriff Mike Scott and Superintendent Joseph Burke say the increase in security will not affect the budget of either organization for this fiscal year.
Ten dedicated deputies will rotate between the district's elementary school. Each deputy has considerable experience in dealing with school-based procedures and staff, as well as the effective management of all types of emergency and crisis situations.
The partnership between the District and the Lee County Sheriff's Office is aimed at ensuring that Lee County schools remain safe and secure learning environments for students and staff.
