FORT MYERS, Fla.- Health officials warn it is an active flu season with some victims ending up in the hospital.

As students in Lee County head back to school on Monday after winter break, Lee County Health Department officials warned parents they should get their children vaccinated against the flu.

"It's been a really busy flu season this year so what we are recommending is everyone who hasn't got a flu shot to get one immediately," said Diane Holm, Lee County Health Department Public Information Officer.

But getting a flu shot from the Lee County Health Department might be a challenge because their clinic on Michigan Avenue in Fort Myers(3920 Michigan Avenue) is closed for building repairs.

"We had alot of repair work that needed to be done. The county is the owner of the building and they had recognized that there was a potential problem with the plumbing so they had replaced all of the plumbing in the Michigan Avenue building," said Holm.

In the meantime, people can get flu vaccinations at the health department's North Fort Myers location up until Thursday.

"Monday thru Wednesday, people can go to our immunizations office at 83 Pondella Road to get their flu shot. After that we will be closed for 2 days while we move back to our Michigan Avenue offices," said Holm.

Immunizations will be closed on Thursday, January 10 and Friday, January 11, 2013 for moving.

All services will reopen with normal business hours on Monday, January 14th at 83 Pondella Road in North Fort Myers and at 3920 Michigan Avenue in Fort Myers.

According to the health department, clients and staff will find the repairs produced a safer, cleaner appearing facility with new paint, lighting, plumbing, ceiling tiles, and flooring.
