FORT MYERS -  A sedan collides with a fire engine at the intersection of Winkler Ave and Veronica Shoemaker Boulevard, sending three people, including two firefighters, to the hospital.

It happened at 10:00 Sunday morning when the fire engine, with emergency lights flashing, was struck by the sedan who did not yield.

The driver of the fire engine tried to avoid the on-coming car but the two collided, sending the car into a stopped vehicle on the northbound lane.

The driver of the sedan and two firefighters on the ladder truck were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police cited the driver of the car for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle.
