Protest creates circus in Estero
ESTERO, Fla. - The circus is in town in Southwest Florida as Ringling Brothers have brought their 'Greatest Show on Earth' to Germain Arena.
Aside from the big top and the clowns, there is another side show.
Protestors gathered to rally against the circus and their treatment of the animals used in their shows.
Saturday a group gathered outside the arena with signs and megaphones voicing their displeasure with the circus.
Leaders of the PETA protest say they are just trying to give a voice to those that don't have one.
FOX 4 spoke with a veterniary technician with Ringling Brothers who says in a statement "Animal care at the circus is the top of the line. There are vet tech's at every show and more vets on call. Everything that I see, we take amazing care of our animals they are part of our family. Protestors are misinformed, we wouldn't put all the measures in place that we have if we didn't care about the animals."
