Baby critically injured in Lehigh Acres crash
LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. - A crash late Friday night in Lehigh Acres left a baby in critical condition because the infant wasn't in a child safety seat.
The crash happened at Lee Boulevard and Joan Avenue North shortly before 11 p.m.
The Florida Highway Patrol reports that 21-year-old Tyeshia Monique Miller of Lehigh Acres had her car sitting in the paved center median of Lee Boulevard facing south. Investigators say part of Miller's bumper was sitting in the westbound lane of Lee Boulevard.
21-year-old Mykel Wayne Dickens was driving his Dodge pickup was driving west on Lee Boulevard when he attempted to stop and swerve away from Miller's car. His pickup slammed into the rear left side of Miller's car ejecting the baby from the car.
The baby, Kennedy Miller, was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
Tyeshia Miller was cited for careless driving and for failure to use a child safety restraint.
