New Year's stabbing leads to arrest on Sanibel
SANIBEL, Fla. - An morning shoving match on New Year's Day led to a stabbing on a Sanibel Beach. The incident happened around 1:18 a.m. near the Sundial Resort.
Police say 21-year-old Stephen Daniel Plein of Fort Myers claims he was pushed by the victim before he stabbed him in the stomach with a pocket knife.
The victim was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital with a non-life threatening wound.
Plein fled the scene but later called police and confessed to the incident. He faces a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
