Housing comeback gains momentum in Lee County
FORT MYERS, Fla. - 2012 showed signs of life for home construction in Lee County. Lee County Community Development reports that permits for single-family homes climbed 49 percent over 2011.
556 permits were issued for new homes worth more than $126 million in unincorporated Lee County.
Permits for commercial structures fell 49 percent in 2012. But the 2011 figures includes construction of JetBlue Park and Park Royal Hospital. The actual number of permits in 2012 was up 46 percent when compared to 2010, the year when historic commercial lows were set in unincorporated Lee County.
