FHP investigates fatal Christmas crash south of Immokalee
COLLIER COUNTY, Fla - A single vehicle crash early Christmas morning claimed the life of an Lehigh Acres man and seriously injured a man from Immokalee.
The Florida Highway Patrol says a Dodge Ram pick up was traveling south on SR 29 when the driver lost control for some unknown reason, over corrected, sending the pick up into a spin.
The pick up ended up traveling off the road and hit a tree and overturned before hitting a second tree.
19-year-old Edgar Renata was pronounced dead at the scene. 19-year-old Ivan Zapata-Cruz was taken to Naples Community Hospital in serious condition.
The crash happened at about 4:30 a.m. near SR 29 and Oil Well Road.
