Missing boaters found near Mohawk Reef off Pine Island
PINE ISLAND, Fla. - A commercial fishing vessel found two boaters Monday morning who went missing on Sunday. Their boat had drifted almost 26 miles off shore.
33-year-old Elionay Lorenzo and 22-year-old Osmaikel Bernal departed Sunday around noon for a fishing trip and were expected to return at 4 p.m. When they failed to come back that touched off a multi-agency search led by the U.S. Coast Guard is underway for two men on a 27-foot boat that went missing.
The boaters had a dead battery which explains why they didn't come back to shore.
