NAPLES, Fla.- More than a dozen families are now homeowners thanks to Habitat for Humanity of Collier County.

The organization reached a milestone on Saturday and gave away its 1,500th home.

Dozens of people showed up for the dedication ceremony at 10am. Habitat for Humanity built several homes in a community known as Regal Acres in Naples off of U.S. 41 East.

Some of these families lived in very small apartments before and hardly made enough money to pay for food after paying rent.

" I did lose alot of faith about ever having a home and this is a dream and I am living it," said Vicky Lopez, Habitat Homeowner.

"I have a house now and hopefully this will be the start of something new," said Jessica Hernandez, Habitat Homeowner.

"We've done more homes in the last 10 years than any other affiliate in the country.
We've done over 100 homes a year for the past 10 years," said Dr. Sam Durso, Habitat for Humanity of Collier County CEO.

Each Habitat family helps with building their home and then the family purchases the home from Habitat with an no interest loan.
