Tom and Ellen Palamenghi are waiting for their flight to New York. The Naples couple is heading north to see their family for the holidays.

"It's just a good time of the year," Ellen Palamenghi said.

Despite a steady flow of passengers at the airport Friday morning, AAA says 90-percent are traveling home for the holidays by car instead of air. Officials say lower gas prices are luring more to hit the open road.
