NAPLES, Fla.- One man is trying to get everyone he meets to do 1 million acts of kindness in his/her lifetime.
Bob Votruba got rid of everything he owned and traded it for a bike and a bus.
" I shut my entire life down, no house, no car, no furniture, got rid of most of clothes and I live on the bus."
The former home builder from Ohio is hoping to change the world one act of kindness at a time. Fox 4 caught up with him in Naples on Wednesday.
"Ii was a builder in Cleveland, Ohio very small...built one to two houses at a time and I lost my passion for it."
Now he spends his day traveling the United States by bike and by bus. He encourages people to stop bullying and be kind to others.
"This is a 9,000 perimeter ride around the United States. It's New York City to New York City."
The bus is painted with happy thoughts. Bob's encouraging everyone he meets to do one million acts of kindness in their lifetime. He started this 5 years ago after the Virginia Tech tragedy, the deadliest shooting rampage in US history.
"I drove to the Tech campus 3 days after the shooting and saw tens of thousands of people at the memorial for 4 days and I said something is wrong here."
Bob now hopes maybe a random act of kindness can turn a person's world around. More than 400 people wrote on the bus and shared messages like "Stop hatred," and "Follow the Golden Rule."
"What is your main message?" I asked.
"For everyone to dedicate their life to a charity and look for what your passion is inside and you're well on your away to one million acts of kindness."
