Crash involving Clewiston police vehicle injures 3

CLEWISTON, Fla. - A Clewiston police vehicle hit standing water on SR 80 Saturday evening sending it into an uncontrolled resulting in a collision with a Ford pickup.

25-year-old Joseph Hicks of Fort Myers with driving the Clewiston police Dodge Durango east on SR 80 when he lost control.  22-year-old Danielle Routen of Cape Coral was headed west and tried to avoid the out of control Durango but clipped the rear of the Durango when it came into her lane.

Hicks, Routen and a passenger in Routen's pick up all suffered minor injuries requiring a trip to the hospital.

The Florida Highway Patrol cited Hicks for failure to use due care.
