Charlotte County superintendent of schools honored
PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Charlotte County school superintendent Doug Whittaker was named the STAR Superintendent of the Year by the Consortium of Florida Education.
The honor came during the annual joint conference of the Florida School Boards Association and the Florida Association of District School Superintendents last week.
The award is given to individuals who have shown tremendous effort, dedication and enthusiasm in supporting efforts of their district-wide education foundation.
Whittaker became the Superintendent of Charlotte County Public Schools in November 2010 and he has been actively involved in the activities of Charlotte Local Education Foundation.
