Parking rates on the docket tonight for Fort Myers City Council
FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Fort Myers City Council will vote tonight on whether to raise parking rates downtown.
The increase would impact parking lots and the two city garages. The city believes raising rates would generate an additional $75,000 to help maintain current lots and build a new garage.
The parking rate ordinance would only affect monthly and special event parking. Monthly rates would increase $5 to $55 and special event parking would climb $1 from $4 to $5. New rates if approved would take effect February 1, 2013.
Rates for meters on the street would remain the same.
