Run for children and help students earn scholarships
NAPLES, Fla. – The Take Stock in Children program of Collier County/Immokalee will be one of many programs across the state to present its second annual “Strides For Education” 5K Walk/Run at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Collier County School District Administration Center, located at 5775 Osceola Trail in Naples.
The statewide effort will raise funds to educate and provide an opportunity for Florida’s low-income and deserving students through college scholarships.
The “Strides For Education” 5K Walk/Runs will also take place simultaneously in 18 counties across the state including Brevard, Broward, Charlotte, Lee, Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, Pinellas, Sarasota and Osceola.
Take Stock in Children’s “Strides For Education” 5K Walk/Run is open to all individuals, families, companies, schools and local organizations. Registration is $25 per person, with all proceeds to benefit Take Stock in Children, a statewide nonprofit organization with a 17-year history of helping low-income and at-risk youth break the cycle of poverty by providing scholarships, mentors and hope. Take Stock in Children of Collier County/Immokalee currently serves 122 students in grades 7-12 annually and 66 students in college.
