Crash in Alva claims the life of LaBelle man
ALVA, Fla. - A two vehicle crash at Hickey Creek Road and Palm Beach Boulevard took the life of a 27-year-old LaBelle man Saturday night.
A Dodge Neon driven by Pedro Ramirez clipped the rear bumper of a Ford utility truck. When Lee County deputies arrived on the scene around 9:30 p.m. they found Ramirez dead.
Witnesses say Ramirez appeared to be speeding westbound on Palm Beach Boulevard without his headlights turned on. The Ford driven by 26-year-old Jack Pritchard of Alva was attempted to make a left turn from Hickey Creek onto Palm Beach when the car driven by Ramirez hit the truck.
Nobody in Pritchard's vehicle suffered any injuries.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office says alcohol may have played a role with both drivers in the accident. The crash is now in the hands of traffic homicide investigators.
