Tough Mudder causing I-75 traffic problems in Sarasota County

SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. - A "Tough Mudder" competition is getting the blame for tying up traffic on southbound I-75 in Sarasota County at Mile Marker 205.

The "Tough Mudder" is being held this weekend at Hi Hat Ranch.

Vehicles exiting at State Road 72/Clark Road are backing up at the exit. Drivers can expect traffic backups between 3-7 p.m. this afternoon, between 6-10 a.m. Sunday morning, and again from 3-7 p.m. Sunday even.

Sarasota County Emergency Services officials recommend that travelers avoid the area through the weekend.

 

The Florida Highway Patrol is working with Florida Department of Transportation on directional road signage and alternate routes from the south and north.
