FT. MYERS BEACH, Fla. - So long hurricane season! The 2012 season officially wraps up today.

It was a busy season. There were 19 named storms and 10 hurricanes, including one major hurricane that never made landfall.

Here in Southwest Florida, we endured tropical storm Debby and prepared for Hurricane Isaac before it shifted and made landfall in Louisiana.

"Hurricane season didn't hold anybody back," tourist Susan Rado laughed.

The Rado family is staying on Ft. Myers Beach this weekend for their son's wedding Saturday at the Pink Shell. Rado says the couple didn't hurricane season into consideration when they were planning their nuptials.

"We're here, everybody's safe and sound and we're gonna enjoy the day," she said.

Tourists on the beach all say they've been following the recovery efforts on the eastern seaboard following superstorm Sandy. With damage estimates now hovering around $40 billion, everyone agrees Southwest Florida was lucky we were largely spared from the destruction hurricanes can cause.
