K9 helps Fort Myers police capture robbery suspect
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Fort Myers police arrested a 30-year-old North Fort Myers man following a robbery at a CVS pharmacy early this morning in the 2400 block of Cleveland Avenue.
Police say Charles Wilkins entered the store armed with a knife and demanded money from the clerk.
The clerk handed over some cash and Wilkins fled on foot.
Officer Phillip Youngblood and his K9 partner Thor tracked Wilkins from the back of the store to Grand Avenue where they found him hiding in some bushes.
According to police, upon his capture, Wilkins confessed to the crime.
Wilkins is charged with armed robbery, theft and resisting arrest without violence.
