Fort Myers police obtain warrant in 11 month old murder case
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Fort Myers Police working with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect wanted for the murder of 27-year-old Travis Burton of Fort Myers.
Burton was shot and killed on February 1st in the 2500 block of Pauldo street.
Witnesses say Burton was sitting on the front porch of a home when a man ran in front of the home and shot him.
FMPD detectives, with assistance from FDLE agents, identified 35-year-old Dietrich Wilcox of Fort Myers as the suspect in Burton's murder.
Wilcox is currently in custody in the Lee County Jail on federal charges for an unrelated weapons offense. Wilcox will face a charge of second degree murder once his federal case is resolved.
