LEE COUNTY, Fla. - If you've been on Facebook lately you've probably noticed a repeated status update from friends.
It reads in part "In response to the new Facebook guidelines I hereby declare that my copyright is attached to all of my personal details, illustrations, paintings, writing, publications, photos and videos."
It then directs you to copy and paste it as a way to prevent Facebook from using your stuff.
Facebook did announce it was making changes to its privacy policy language but the letter is a hoax.
"They're not marketing or selling your pictures to people, they're selling your information to people", said Brandon Barry of the Geek Squad at Best Buy in the Gulf Coast Town Center in Ft. Myers.
You agreed to the terms when you signed up for Facebook but some viewers are chiming in on, where else, Facebook.
Sam said, "When you go public, you pretty much gave the world permission to view your dirty laundry, past present, and future. The more friends ya have, the more it spiderwebs out!"
Mike posted, "FB has changed since we signed on to THEIR terms. Consider this a contract re-negotiation. Athletes do it all the time."
