North Fort Myers man critically injured walking along Bayshore
NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. - A North Fort Myers man was struck by a car just before 6 a.m. Friday as he walked Bayshore Road just west of the intersection with Daniels Drive.
69-year-old Robert McEwen of Naples was driving east on Bayshore when he hit 53-year-old Christopher Heilman of North Fort Myers.
The Florida Highway Patrol says Heilman was hit by the car's bumper then he flew up into the right side of the windshield smashing it. Heilman is in critical condition.
The accident shutdown eastbound Bayshore Road for nearly two hours.
The FHP is asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident to call 239-938-1800.
Charges are pending in this case.
