Neighbors in North Fort Myers fight drug and prostitution problems
NORTH FORT MYERS - It's this neighborhood in North Fort Myers where residents say they have had enough.
Karla Marker has lived at the corner of Woodward Avenue and Clark Street for the past four years.
Marker posted this sign outside her home that reads "crack free zone". She says the neighborhood is filled with crack houses.
She says this house is vacant and used as a place where area addicts do drugs. She says landlords are to blame for perpetuating the problems.
"They are renting to anybody and anything that will give them a dollar and then they have to spend another thousand dollars to get them out of the house," said Marker.
No trespassing signs are everywhere in this neighborhood. Residents tellling us the Sheriff's Office needs to keep a closer eye on the activities here.
"There's not enough police officers in this neck of the woods," said Marker.
The Sheriff's Office releasing the following statement - "We are continuing to do routine patrols in that North Fort Myers neighborhood but will continue to rely on residents to be our eyes and ears."
