Website names Lehigh Acres one of the world's eeriest places
LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.- Travel & Leisure.com posted an article featuring some of the world's eeriest places and among them is an abandoned amusement park in Japan and a deserted psychiatric hospital in Norway.
Cynthia Aurelio, a Lehigh Acres homeowner, says one picture made her furious.
"Whenever I read the article, I was appalled," said Aurelio.
A photo of an abandoned home in Lehigh Acres also made the list of some of the world's creepiest places. The photo caption says Florida's southwest is filled with half built McMansions, unkempt yard overtaken by alligators and snakes.
"I have woods right across the street and a canal out back and there's no alligators around walking around here," said Aurelio.
Cynthia says her sister many miles away in New York saw the article online and asked her, is this where you live?
"I open my email and I have an email from my sister from Rhode Island and under the headline she puts is this where you live," said Aurelio.
So what do real estate agents think about this?
The photo caption says you can contact real estate agent Marc Joseph for foreclosure boat tours. I got ahold of him over the phone and he tells me he's not sure why they mentioned his name.
"Julie, I would have to say Lehigh Acres is no where near a comparison to what they've put on here and what they've portrayed. It's a beautiful place to live," said Marc Joseph.
