TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - President Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney are splitting the early vote in the crucial swing state of Florida with more than two million votes counted.
The candidates are separated by just thousands of votes and they were trading leads as the votes were being counted.
Polls closed in much of the state at 7 p.m., although some precincts in the Panhandle will close at 8 p.m.
The state has 29 electoral votes up for grabs - the most of any swing state. Both Obama and Romney worked hard here until the final moments of the campaign.
Campaigns and their allies poured $130 million into TV ads.
